This residential complex in Vienna’s 21st District contains 103 flats. The offset building masses form a set of interlocking, green courtyards with clear proportions and residential intimacy.
The project is built using an innovative „Slim-Building®” construction system. Filigree steel columns bonded to thin concrete floor plates produce highly efficient floor plans, based upon a strict constructive grid. Clear and simple unit plans and open-air, gallery-like circulation optimize building costs, yet generate a strongly articulated architectural form. The balconies’ meander-like form creates wind-sheltered, outdoor spaces for each and every unit, and provides a striking accent to the otherwise unostentatious building masses. Mosaic-tile insets in the side walls of the balconies lend the ensemble warmth, atmosphere and unique optical flair.
